Can you stay on track during the holidays?

Updated: Dec 15, 2023

Absolutely.

Slowly, but surely we are approaching to Christmas and New Year. This is the time of the year, when families gather or corporate events happening and we eat 3-7 corse meals. Can you stay on your diet during the holidays?

Let me navigate you, how to make the best choices!

If you are invited to a potluck (everybody brings a dish), it is the easiest way to go. You might make your own meal or meals, so you can't go wrong with that.

If you are invited to a lunch or dinner, where the host will organize the food, you can just look for the dishes what you think will fit into your desired daily intake.

Stay away from pastries, pasta, stuffing and fried stuff. Instead look for meat, lower carb vegetables, gluten and sugar free food.

I happen to work for a big company, they are offering 24 hours self service meals every day and I have to make these choices pretty often.

First I check out the soups if they seem low carb and then I go to the meat selections, if they have stews or the carving station or just simply cooked or baked seafood. Then I pick either a salad and/or a side. Sometimes I go for the dressings like blue cheese or ceasar, sometimes I just drizzle olive oil and vinegar on my vegetables.

But if you are not sure, what to choose and don't want to bother to ask, then just take a sample or a little piece on your plate and have a bite to deside.

Or the other option I would suggest, if you really like what you see and can't say no to it, then eat it and tomorrow is another day.

You didn't gain that weight in 1 day.

Overall, holidays for cheers and joy, so enjoy with your loved once and don't beat yourself up over. You can have a cheat day or two.
