How to start

If you've been dieting all your life, you already know how hard is to start. The most important thing is the willpower. You need to put your mind into it. I would suggest you to start with baby steps. First you better research about the ketogenic diet and get a shopping list. That was my help every time I went to the grocery store. I actually had 2 lists printed out and foiled, so I could carry them with me. If I didn't see it on the list, I didn't buy it. Stick with it for awhile, so you learn the products are allowed. Use an application on your phone! There is many tracking apps you can find. I used Carb manager. It's free. To be honest, I was using it for 6 weeks and after that just time to time to check on some foods, if I wasn't familiar with the macros. Learn what are the macros! On the ketogenic diet we look at Fat, Protein and Carbs. Once you have your details put into your app, it will count your macros for you.

Give up the sugar! There are great sugar replacements on the market now. My favorites are, Stevia, Monk fruit and some other blends with Erythritol. Check the sugar levels in some of your food, you might be surprised.

Start counting your macros! Most of the people are allowed to eat up to 20 g net carbs a day. You don't have to be on the point every day, especially when you start. You might be struggling to eat enough fat (that was for me). Figure it out, you will get there!

Don't starve yourself! Eat when you feel hungry.

Don't eat very little calories! If you allowed to eat 2000 calories a day, stay 10% under or over.

Meats have no carbs.

Vegetable greener are less carbs. More color, higher in carbs.

Dairy is allowed in a form of cheese, sour cream or heavy cream.

Snacking is allowed, but it's really up to you if you will need it.

Intermittent fasting is suggested, but not necessary. You can drink coffee, tea and electrolytes.

Workout suggested. You can just walk 20 minutes a day, but you can start lifting weights.

Electrolytes are essential to give you energy, focus and save you from keto flu.
