Hair loss on keto

It is a very common temporary "side effect" on the ketogenic diet. Hair loss usually occurs after a few weeks or months from your start date. It could also happen after major surgery (anesthesia) or from thyroid problems. Don't worry! It will regrow.


Most women are more self concerned about their look, than man, what is totally understandable.


Your body is going through changes with a weight loss and the metabolism need to adjust.


Being said that, you can always boost the regrow process and make it faster to get stronger and beautiful hair again.



EAT EXTRA PROTEIN (my favorite)

Regularly you suppose to eat about 30g protein per meal. In this case you might up to 40-60g per serving. You can eat it or drink in a protein shake form.


START TAKING COLLAGEN WITH BIOTIN

I prefer the liquid drops with 60000 mcg, but it's probably just temporary for me, as I'm only within 6 months after my surgery.

You can also take collagen powder, but make sure it's clean.


DON'T WASH YOUR HAIR TOO OFTEN

This might surprise you, but I used to wash my hair 3X a week and it was falling constantly. My hairdresser suggested to wash my hair only once a week and on a top of that, she told me not to use shampoo sometimes, only conditioner, because that can dry and weaken your hair. Interesting.

So I followed the instructions, and I wash my hair only once a week. It took me a little bit to get use to it, but sometimes I help freshen up with dry shampoo. I am now using shampoo every wash again.


It's all good and my hair got the strength back.


YOU CAN USE RED LIGHT THERAPY

This method is becoming more popular in a beauty business. It has a lot of benefits, including cosmetic skin issues, wrinkles, stretch marks, builds collagen, helps with chemotherapy side effects, it can relieve pain and inflammation and many more.


YOU CAN TAKE VITAMINS

It is possible, that you are in the vitamin deficiency. Some of them like A, B, C, D, E, zinc and iron can affect the hair growth. You can go see the doctor for testing, but anytime you take more vitamins as your body need, it will discard them in a form of urine. Make sure you take good quality and non over processed supplements!
